The Mountain View Motel & RV Park is an updated vintage 1960’s roadside motor motel and seasonal campground nestled in pastoral countryside in the shadow of the awe-inspiring Wallowa Mountains. Just 3 minutes north of Joseph, Oregon, it’s the perfect year-round lodging for enjoying local events and outdoor adventures in and near the Eagle Cap Wilderness, where you can explore a wonderland of glacial lakes, trails and Wild & Scenic Rivers.

Planning Your Trip / Accommodations

Where is the Mountain View Motel & RV Park? We are located in the rural northeastern corner of Oregon on the Hells Canyon Scenic Byway/ Hwy 82. Look for the motel sign on the west side of the road between Enterprise and Joseph. See the Map or Driving Directions. Is the Mountain View Motel open year-round? Yes. Spring is filled with promise. Summer is adventurous! Fall is glorious with harvest colors, balmy days and frosty- crisp nights. And winter blankets the landscape in white that prompts reflection and hope for the New Year. How far is the Mountain View Motel from Joseph, Oregon? We’re about 2 miles or 3 minutes north of Joseph. How far is the Mountain View Motel from Wallowa Lake? About 2½ miles just north of Wallowa Lake. How far is the Mountain View Motel from Wallowa Lake State Park? The park is at the south end of Wallowa Lake, about 6 miles from the motel. Can I walk to Joseph, Oregon? We don’t recommend it. it’s not safe, since OR Hwy 82 is a rural two-lane road with narrow shoulders without any pedestrian path and drivers often tend to get distracted by the spectacular scenery. Is there cell phone coverage in the Joseph area? Yes. Verizon and US Cellular are good and AT&T is getting better. Do you have WiFi? Yes, the Motel and RV Park have free WiFi coverage. How do I choose a room that best suits my needs? Please see room photos, amenities and prices on the Motel and Motel Rates pages. Or call 541-432-2982 to discuss. Do you have smoking rooms? All rooms are smoke-free. However, you can smoke outside the rooms on either the front porch or back deck, where receptacles are provided for disposal of cigarette butts. Or you can smoke while strolling around the property BUT please don’t toss your cigarette butts on the ground! Please make sure they are dead out then dispose of them in the trash cans or receptacles. Thanks. What amenities does the Mountain View Motel offer? The Mountain View Motel’s rooms and cabins feature homey western decor with decorative touches that make every unit unique. Each accommodation has a sliding glass door that opens to a deck with lawn furniture and briquette barbeque. Every unit includes free Wifi, Dish TV, air conditioning, fridge, microwave, coffeemaker with complimentary coffee and condiments. The cabins include fully-equipped kitchens with cookware and dishes. Can I plug in my electric car? Yes! 110 V electrical receptacles are available at the Motel and 20/30/50 Amp receptacles are often available in the RV Park. EV charging is $10.00 per charge. Is the Mountain View biker-friendly? You bet! We enjoy having the Mountain View decorated with all sorts of 2-wheeled BLING! Bring it on, especially during the Wallowa County Thunder Run in August. Is the Mountain View hunter-friendly? Absolutely! Hunters are always welcome at the Mountain View! There’s nothing more entertaining than a good hunting story. Just stay once in one of the Mountain View’s Cabin-Kitchenettes and you’ll dig in like a tick and never go back to your wall tent! There’s plenty of parking space for your rigs, quads and trailers. And don‘t forget the Hunter’s Special Deal during the Fall hunting season. Is there room to park an extra vehicle, boat or 4-wheeler trailer near my room? Sure, there’s plenty of extra parking space for guests staying in the cabins. For the other rooms, there’s extra parking nearby in the RV Park. Do you accommodate family reunions or group gatherings? Yes, the Mountain View can provide a combination of motel rooms, RV sites, tent sites and tepees for family reunions or group gatherings. We also have a public gathering area in the RV Park with a picnic table, fire pit, smoker BBQ, swimming hole and a water spigot, plenty of room for shade canopies. And there are several local caterers who’ll serve sumptuous group meals. What will the weather be like up there? Local weather can change quickly. So, it’s best to check the local forecast online either before or while traveling. Is the Mountain View Seasonal RV Park open year-round? No, the seasonal RV Park, shower house, rest rooms, tent camping & tepees are all operated seasonally from about Oct 15 to May 15, depending on the weather.

Amenities

Do the rooms and cabins have bedding, towels, soap, shampoo, etc.? Yes, of course. And the rooms and cabins include a host of amenities and personal touches for your comfort and convenience. What kind of cleaning products do you use? We use a mildly citrus-scented cleaner / polish on the laminate and tile floors and a scent-free laundry detergent for our bedding and towels.

Prices & Payment

How much do rooms cost? Room prices vary from $70.00 to $120.00/night depending on room type and Seasonal Motel Rates. How much does RV parking cost? RV parking is $40.00 per night. How much does tent camping cost? Seasonal tent sites are $30.00 per night. How much does Tepee camping cost? Seasonal Tepees cost $60.00 per night with a 2-day minimum stay requirement. Do the prices include Lodging Tax? No. State and County Lodging tax is currently 6.8% in addition to the published Motel, RV Park and Tepee prices. What type of payment do you accept? Cash, personal check, money order, Traveler’s Checks or credit cards (preferably VISA or Mastercard). When do we pay for the Rooms, RVs, tents or tepees? Payment is due at check-in. Can we pay for part of all of our stay when we make our reservation? Generally no. We require full payment at check-in.

Reservations

How do I make a reservation? Please call 541-432-2982 to make reservations, since we don’t book reservations via Email or online. Can I make a reservation for next year? We book reservations by calendar year beginning each January. Are there minimum stay requirements? Only during certain local events as noted on the Motel, RV Park and Tepees pages. Do you require credit card information or a deposit to hold our reservation? No, all we need is your name and phone number with the understanding that customers will either show up or cancel their reservation at least 48-hours before the check-in date. Do I have to provide my email address for reservations? No. Do you give reservation confirmation numbers or send email confirmations? Regarding confirmation numbers, no. Concerning email confirmations, generally not, except for overseas travelers, family reunions or large groups whose participants often arrive or depart on different schedules. Is there a Cancellation Policy? Yes, a 48-hour Cancellation Policy accords an opportunity to rent “your” room in case your plans change.

Check-in / Check-out

What are the office hours? 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM, 7 days a week. What time is check-in? Official Check-in time is after 2:00 PM. However, if you arrive earlier, just stop by the office and you can check in right away if your accommodations are ready. What if we can’t arrive until after 9:00 PM? Just call before 9:00 PM and let us know so we can make arrangements to accommodate your schedule. If our party “grew by a few more” than originally reserved, can we have more people in the room than the published limitations? Sorry, we cannot exceed the published occupancy limits. What time is check-out? Official Check-out time is before 11:00 AM. Sometimes, a late check-out can be arranged, depending on the ebb and flow of motel or RV Park traffic. Where do I leave the room key when I check out? Just leave the key on the table or night stand and lock the door on the way out.

Pets

Can I bring my pet(s)? Generally yes for the RV Park. Pit Bulls, Chows, Dobermans, Wolf-hybrids or dog breeds that have “attack dog” genetics are not allowed. Pets must be on a short (6-foot) leash when outside your RV/Tent. Guests are responsible for picking up the poop! Please see RV Park for details. Sorry, pets are not allowed in the Motel or Tepees. We have 2 dogs…is that OK? Yes. No more than two pets are allowed per room or RV/tent site. What about 3 dogs…is that OK? Sorry, no more than 2 dogs are allowed per room or RV/tent site. Where can I walk my dog? The Mountain View Motel & RV Park has 4 acres of landscaped grounds where you can walk your pet. However, we prefer that you DO NOT walk your pet in the motel’s courtyard. Thanks. Where can I board my dog? There are several local animal boarding facilities, as noted in the Traveler Info page. Where can I keep my horse? You can board your horse at Char’s Horse Hotel in Joseph, Oregon. Call Char at 541-432-4305 for details.

Are there any good restaurants in the Joseph area? Oh yeah! Joseph and Enterprise are blessed with a variety of good restaurants. You’ll find everything from American to Chinese, steak houses, drive-ins, brew pubs, pizza parlors and sandwich shops – all within a 5 mile radius of the Mountain View Motel & RV Park. Just ask Scott, the Owner, who’d be happy to provide suggestions. Can we have a campfire? Sure, campfires are allowed, except during burn bans, when neither wood nor charcoal fires are permitted. However, propane "campfires" are OK. Otherwise, please use the RV Park’s fire pits. Where can I get a fishing license? Either the Sports Corral or Joseph Hardware in Joseph, Oregon. Is there a local hospital? Yes, call Wallowa Memorial Hospital (541-426-3111) in Enterprise, Oregon is a full-service hospital including Ambulance / Paramedic Service and Emergency Room.
